Friends of the Waite Arboretum Volunteers

Friends of the Waite Arboretum has a keen group of volunteers who work in the Arboretum, the rose gardens, the gardens around Urrbrae House, and the Garden of Discovery on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9.15am – 12.30pm with morning tea at 11am. Feel free to come along and share a morning tea with the volunteers.

Arboretum Guides

Some Friends of the Waite Arboretum are Arboretum Guides and take the public on tours of the Arboretum

  • On the first Sunday of each month
  • Booked walks
  • Specialty walks
  • Special occasions walks.

Friends can participate in:

  • Contributing to quarterly newsletters
  • Data collection
  • Gardening, planting, weeding, watering, pruning
  • Helping with mail outs
  • Maintenance of garden seats, preparation of flyers, brochures and self-guided walks
  • Propagation of native grasses
  • Publicity and promotion
  • Staff exhibitions
  • Taking guided walks
  • And many other interesting tasks.
