Friends of the Waite Arboretum Volunteers

Friends of the Waite Arboretum has a keen group of volunteers who work in the Arboretum, the Twentieth Century Rose Gardens, Garden of Discovery, Coach House Garden and the gardens around Urrbrae House, Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9.15am – 12.30pm with morning tea at 11am.  Visitors are welcome to come discover the Waite Historic Precinct and share a morning tea with the volunteers.

Arboretum Guides

Some Friends of the Waite Arboretum are Arboretum Guides and take the public on tours of the Arboretum

  • On the first Sunday of each month
  • Booked walks
  • Specialty walks
  • Special occasions walks.

Friends can participate in:

  • Contributing to quarterly newsletters
  • Data collection
  • Gardening, planting, weeding, watering, pruning
  • Helping with mail outs
  • Maintenance of garden seats, preparation of flyers, brochures and self-guided walks
  • Propagation of native grasses
  • Publicity and promotion
  • Staff exhibitions and stalls
  • Taking guided walks
  • Special projects
  • And many other interesting tasks.
